Three people, including two students, have been remanded into police custody after appearing before the Adenta Circuit Court over the recent assault on a teacher at West Africa Senior High School (SHS).

According to a report by metrotvonline.com the suspects were arrested on the night of February 16, 2026, around 11:30 pm and brought before the court on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

“On February 18, 2026, they pleaded guilty to the charges and were ordered to remain in custody until their next court appearance on March 30, 2026,” the report said.

The case has drawn significant attention from education authorities and teacher groups.

Present in court were the Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, Hajia Katumi Natogmahattah, and her deputy, as well as municipal education directors from La Nkwantanang Madina and Adentan, Philip Aidoo and Gifty Mussey.

They attended the session to show support for the affected staff and to signal the seriousness of the matter.

The headmaster of West Africa SHS, Isaac Arthur Nyarko, and the Assistant Head (Administration), Forabe Ayer, were also present, alongside the headmistress of Frafraha Community SHS, Abena Agyemfra, members of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT MAA), and staff from both schools.

Following the court proceedings, the Regional Director and her team visited the school to reassure teachers and students of their safety.

She urged students to maintain discipline, avoid truancy and misconduct, and stay focused on their education.

The visit also aimed to boost morale among staff, with officials and union representatives expressing solidarity and pledging continued support as the case progresses.

The incident occurred on Friday, February 13, 2026, during school hours, when some male students, reportedly from Frafraha Community SHS, were found in a classroom at West Africa SHS with female students, in violation of school rules prohibiting unauthorised visitors on campus.

Teachers supervising the students, led by Nicholas Teye, confronted the intruders and directed them to leave.

The visitors allegedly resisted and verbally abused the staff, prompting a heated confrontation.

Additional staff intervened to remove the intruders, but later that day, at about 4:30 pm, the group reportedly returned on motorbikes with armed accomplices and launched a violent attack on the teachers.
