Tamale, Sept. 14, GNA - Government under the One-Laptop-Per-Child Project, has presented 90 laptops to three primary schools in the Northern Region.
The presentation, which was made by the Ministry of Education, went to the Dahinsli Primary School in the Tamale Metropolis, Methodist Primary in Bole and St. Monicas' R/C Primary at Nyankpala in the Tolon/Kumbungu District.
Mrs Elizabeth De-Souza, Northern Regional Director of Education, who
made the presentation at a brief ceremony in Tamale on Saturday, told the
head teachers of the beneficiary schools to ensure that the children used the
computers to enhance their learning abilities. She stressed the need for all pupils in the schools to be given the opportunity to try their hands on the computers to enable them become computer literate. In a related development, the Rotary Club of Tema made a donation of assorted text books to all the Senior High Schools (SHS) in the Northern Region. Mr Charles Nyabu, Northern Regional Chairman of the Conference of
Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), who received the books
on behalf of the schools, said they would be placed in the schools' libraries to enable the students make maximum use of them. 1
