Aflao, Jan. 8, GNA - The Aflao Police on Monday arrested three women on suspicion of causing the death of their 16-year old friend who lived with them in the same room.

Efey Anthony, the deceased, was suspected to have taken some concoctions given to her by her three friends to terminate a three-month old pregnancy but died.

The suspects were in the process of stealthily dumping Efey's body at a spot at the Low Cost Estate, a suburb of Aflao, behind her aunt's house, when they were nabbed.

Mr Baba Moro, Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge of crime at Aflao gave the name of one of the suspects as Akorfa Adorsu, 25, but declined to give the names of the other two, said to be aged between 17 and 20, until after some investigations

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the deceased parted company with her aunt, a chop bar operator with whom she resided at the Low Cost Estate, to reside with the three friends at another part of Aflao.

Mr Moro said at about 0500 hours on Monday, a witness saw the three suspects dumping Efey's body behind her aunt's house at the Low Cost Estate and raised the alarm leading to their arrest. He said the suspects claimed that the deceased died in their room while on a visit.

Mr Moro said police were continuing their investigations and would soon put the three suspects before court on a provisional charge of murder. He said the deceased's body has been deposited at the Aflao District Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.
