Accra, Oct. 19 GNA- Three women who allegedly threatened a prosecution witness in a case involving Alhaji Saeed Sinare, aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Ayawaso Central, have been arrested by the Police for investigation on the orders of the presiding circuit court judge.
The women allegedly threatened to beat and kill Mr Kwame Bediako, a prosecution witness, to serve as lesson to others.
Mr Bediako told the presiding judge that he was brining the matter up because the three women had made threats in the courtroom. He said he had earlier informed some of the court clerks about the threats so that they could be his witness.
The judge, Mrs Wilhelmina Hammond, took the complaint very seriously and ordered the immediate arrest of the women to assist the police in their investigations.
They were taken to the Ministries Police station for further investigation.
Mr Bediako made the complaint to the court after Mr Albert Adaare, Counsel for Alhaji Sinare, had prayed the Court in Accra to acquit his client because the prosecution had failed to establish a case against Sinare.
He said the prosecution had failed to prove the vital ingredient of the offence of conspiracy with which Alhaji Sinare was charged. Alhaji Sinare is standing trial for allegedly conspiring with Nii Armah, an electoral officer, to make 26 illegal entries into the Voters' Register.
Stanley Nii Armah who had pleaded guilty to forgery and conspiracy was sentenced to six months imprisonment by the court last week. The Court would on October 21, rule on the submission of no case.
