Preliminary investigations have revealed that a leakage in one of the gas cylinders onboard the container truck with registration number GT 9423-10 triggered last Sunday’s explosion at Tinga.

Six (6) persons were confirmed dead and others who sustained various degrees of injuries are on admission at the Bole Government Hospital.

The incident occurred at Tinga, a notable mining community near Bole in the Bole District of the Northern region.

Northern Regional Police PRO ASP Ebenezer Tetteh who confirmed the incident to ultimatefmonline.com, said two of the deceased persons include a driver and his mate.

The other four, are believed to be residents of Tinga.

According to him, the vehicle was conveying oxygen and other consumables for delivery at Wa in the Upper West region but on reaching the Tinga market, one of the cylinders exploded killing the two and four others close by.

The bodies of the deceased persons have since been deposited at the Bole Hospital morgue pending autopsy.
