Titus-Glover engages Tema East constituents

Member of Parliament for Tema East Constituency and Deputy Minister for Transport, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover has engaged some of his constituents at the forecourt of Amui Tse We in the Sea Light electoral area in Tema New Town.

This is the first of a series of town hall meetings scheduled from October to the end of the year.

The purpose of the town hall meeting was to offer the platform for the MP to address constituents on the progresses made so far as a constituency, the challenges and way forward.

It was also a platform to receive concerns from the constituents, question developments in the constituency, and solicit for continuous support from constituents to enhance developments and progress in the constituency.

Issues regarding Tema East roads, health, education, employment, premix fuel, capacity building, sports, and among others were discussed at the meeting.

Speaking on the roads, he mentioned that developments have been far advanced on the road works. He mentioned that Bankuman roads constructions have begun. It will continue through to Abonkor and Ziginshore. The alternative roads through Valco that he promised has just been awarded to a contractor who will soon begin work.

Touching on health, he said he is still mobilizing resources to begin the clinic expansion. He has spoken to various industries to support which they have agreed to do so. Whiles waiting to kick start the project, he has been able to do some renovations at the clinic to avert some challenges the clinic face especially when it rains.

Mr. Titus-Glover also made mention of the fact that he is still supporting constituents for school with his common fund.

He assured the clan houses that he will work on the outstanding applications for educational support as soon as he receives the last quarter common fund. He made mention of a constituent who recently benefited from his support to enter the University of Ghana Medical School and among others.

The MP made mention and showed the constituents a cheque of GHC20, 000 he received from Parliament which will be used as a start-up seed to improve petty trading among women in the constituency.

He said the modalities for the application would soon be made known to the traders for them to begin accessing money to support their businesses.

On employment, he said he has made a lot of efforts in assisting some residents secure jobs in various firms, assuring he is still working harder to get more people sorted out.



He also disclosed that the first phase of the port expansion will be done in July 2019.

He is full of hopes that many constituents will get the opportunity to work at the port next year. He also commended the President of Ghana for the NABCO program.

He said 47 graduates in his constituency will be engaged in the NABCO program.

On the premix issues, he said that he has recently held meetings with some security agencies and the premix committees after receiving several complaints from some fishermen. He has warned the various committees to desist from the allegations of hoarding of the fuel and selling the fuel at high prices. He said that whoever is caught doing that will be dealt with.

Touching on sports, he said the Tweedease Park will be opened in December this year and urged that more football teams in Tema Manhean should participate in next year's inter sites football league.

He will follow up on Tema Mantse Park development with GPHA together with the Tema Traditional Council.

The participants of the meeting took turns to ask various questions bothering on his address and other matters, asked for clarifications and also made various suggestions with regards to street lights in the constituency, sanitation and security.

Present at the meeting were representatives of clans in Tema Manhean, clubs, and associations.

Meanwhile, the next town hall meeting and venue will soon be communicated.
