Tolon Chief applauds Vodafone for ‘Healthfest’

The Chief of Tolon, Major Abubakari Sulemana has commended Vodafone Ghana for bringing its free healthcare initiative, ‘HealthFest’ to the people of the Tolon district in the Northern Region.

The one-day event provided free and quality healthcare to over 600 residents in the district Beneficiaries were also screened for several ailments including Hypertension, Tuberculosis, Diabetes and Malaria.

The traditional ruler described Vodafone’s Healthfest initiative as a timely intervention that has brought relief and joy to his people. He made this comment when a delegation from Vodafone Ghana called on him at his palace.

“I am grateful to Vodafone for choosing Tolon as a beneficiary of their free healthcare programme. We hope to benefit more from their many programmes. I urge Vodafone to continue the good work they are doing for this country.”

Speaking during the visit, Gayheart Mensah, Director for External Affairs and Legal at Vodafone Ghana said: “Vodafone is passionate about creating sustainable initiatives that positively transform and impact the lives of people. The Healthfest programme is a demonstration. We hope that our interventions will continue to impact and improve the living standards of Ghanaians”.

Vodafone Healthfest was introduced by the Foundation in 2014 as a holistic structure to provide basic healthcare interventions for Ghanaians. The Vodafone Ghana Foundation was established to drive Vodafone Ghana’s corporate social responsibility initiatives leading to social change and improved standards of living. At the heart of the Foundation is the belief that innovative mobile communications technologies can address some of the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.
