Torgbui Fiti shields Fiifi Kwetey

The Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area, Torgbui Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V, has warned saboteurs in the governing NDC government to stay off the Member of Parliament (MP) of his area, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey.

He revealed, “We are aware of the machinations of some persons in this government who are thwarting the work of our son, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey. These people want to ensure that our son under-performs.”

Torgbui Fiti gave the caution during a courtesy call on him by the Volta Regional Minister, Madam Helen Ntoso, as part of a day’s working visit to the Ketu South Municipality and constituency last week.

He reaffirmed the constituency’s trust in the MP and referred to what he called “sterling records” of Fiifi Kwetey when he was a Deputy Minister of Finance, and noted that “should he (MP) fail, we’ll put the blame at the doorstep of the government.”

Torgbui Fiti further stated that though Ketu South is the bastion of the NDC, “It is yet to receive its fair share of the national cake” and urged the Minister to ensure equal distribution of development across the region.

Earlier, the Minister also paid a similar call on the Chiefs of Klikor and Somey traditional areas respectively, who also lamented about the low development of their areas.

Torgbui Addo VIII, the paramount chief of Klikor, narrated that, his area which played host to refugees from Togo in the past, lacked amenities such as potable water, good access roads among others.

He, however, commended the government for providing infrastructure at the basic school level and appealed for similar support for the Klikor Senior High Technical School, which he said was in dire need of infrastructure.

Torgbui Addo also asked the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to facilitate the procurement of tractors for the two traditional areas (Klikor and Somey) to boost farming activities in the communities.

He again urged government to intervene and properly demarcate the boundaries between the three traditional areas in the Ketu South Municipality to prevent simmering tension.

The traditional leader also called for the upgrading of the Agbozume Health Centre into a hospital, to cater for the health needs of the people.

Madam Helen Ntoso assured the chiefs that all their concerns would be appropriately addressed.

She also commended the people of Ketu South for their massive support for the NDC government and reiterated government’s commitment towards the development of the region.
