Tourism Ministry makes fourth coronavirus donation

Four trade institutions under the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF) have received significant support from the Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

On Thursday, April 23, the sector minister, Barbara Oteng Gyasi presented some items to the organizations namely; Traditional Caterers, Indigenous Caterers, Ghana National Association of Drinking Bars (GHABOA) and National Drinking Bar Association (NADBOA).

The items donated include 2000 pieces of veronica buckets, 2000 bowls, 24 boxes of hand sanitizers, 80 boxes of nose masks, 10,000 pieces of hand gloves, 32 boxes of liquid soaps, 160 packs of tissue paper.

Since the outbreak of the virus in Ghana, the Ministry and the Ghana Tourism Authority have been consistent with their support of the tourism and hospitality industries and this was their fourth donation to them.

Barbara Oteng Gyasi noted that the government will in various ways assist businesses to deal with the impact of the virus.

Ghana has so far recorded 1,154 cases with nine deaths and an impressive 120 recoveries.

Movement restrictions imposed on some parts of the country was last Sunday lifted amid protest by some opposition members.

The government, however, insists that it made the right call.
