Toyota gives beds to KATH

The Paediatric Unit at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi has received enormous support from Toyota Ghana Company Limited.

The unit had taken delivery of two paediatric intensive care unit beds (PICU) which would go a long way to help save precious human lives.

The largesse by Toyota Ghana Company was in response to a passionate appeal that the Paediatric Unit made to them recently.

The timely donation formed part of Toyota Ghana’s corporate social responsibilities, and it was to help boost healthcare delivery at KATH.

Peter Asante, Toyota Ghana Company Limited’s Kumasi branch manager, presented the beds on behalf of Tetsuya Suematsu, MD of Toyota Ghana.

Toyota Ghana had in the past supported medical facilities such as Ridge Hospital, Kaneshie Polyclinic and Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

In his succinct address, Mr Asante said Toyota Ghana believes that a healthy environment contributes to a healthy well-being, hence the donation.

He indicated that protecting and promoting the health of children is an important goal which is dear to Toyota Ghana.

“At Toyota, we demonstrate our commitment to a healthy tomorrow by the positive actions we take today as this is central to shaping their long term health and well-being.

“It is also critical to improving the health of the whole population by reducing infant mortality,” Mr Asante said, urging KATH to take good care of the beds presented.

Prof Addo-Yobo, Head of Department of Child Health at KATH, said KATH’s resources alone could not provide the essential beds, urging the public to emulate Toyota Ghana’s shining example.
