Trader fined for causing harm

Accra, June 29, GNA - A trader who assaulted his colleague resulting in the loss of her tooth was on Wednesday sentenced to a fine of two million cedis by an Accra Circuit Court. Samuel Opoku, the Trader pleaded guilty to causing unlawful harm. Opoku in default would serve a six-month jail term.

The case of Prosecution was that in April this year, Opoku collected goods worth 600,000 cedis from Ms Millicent Mogyakah and paid half the amount. At about 22.30 hours on June 16, Ms Mogyakah in the company of a witness went to collect the rest of her money from Opoku. He picked up a quarrel with Ms Mogyakah and attempted to hit her with a table but people at the scene intervened.

Opoku, however, gave Ms Mogyakah a blow in the face resulting in the loss of her tooth.
