An Accra Circuit Court on Monday sentenced one Prince Kotey, a trader to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour for robbery and causing harm to one Rosemond Appiah.

Prince, robbed the complainant of her LG mobile phone worth GH¢550.00.

He pleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted on his own plea, by the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh.

The convict, however, pleaded not guilty to two other counts of robbery, causing harm and indecent assault. He is, however, to reappear on May 10 to stand trial on those charges.

The court in sentencing said it took into consideration, the number of days he had already spent in custody, his conduct before the court, plea for mitigation, and the fact that, he did not waste the court’s time.

Prosecuting, Chief Superintendent of Police, Duuti Tuaruka told the court that the complainants are Patience Opoku and Augustina Huzortey, both residents of Haatso, while the accused person is a trader who sells mobile phones.

He said Patience is a Hairdresser who owns a Salon, where the victims, Abigail, Doreen, and Mavis works as apprentices.

He said on April 3, at about, 23:00 hours, the victims were sleeping in the salon, when the convict in a black leather jacket entered with a knife and threatened to kill anyone who shouts.

The prosecution said Prince ordered Doreen and Mavis to remove their dresses which they did for fear of being killed.

He then asked them to lie down after which he inserted his finger into their vagina in succession, and later asked them to suck his penis.

Chief Superintendent Tuaruka, said Prince took their Samsung mobile phone, one Nokia Lumia, one pink power bank and an amount of GH¢190.00 belonging to the victims.

He told the court that in the course of the robbery, Abigail came to open the door of the salon, but the convict used a pair of scissors to stab her and escaped.

She sustained wounds on the chest, and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

He said a complaint was made to the police. On April 9, while investigation was ongoing, complainant Augustina, came to report that at about 23:00 hours she was walking with one Rosemond on the street at Haatso, when Prince, armed with a knife attacked them and stabbed Rosemond in the chest.

The prosecution said Rosemond was taken to the hospital, where she was treated and discharged and a medical report submitted on her to the Police.

Prince was later identified by Mavis and Doreen and he was arrested. On April 20, a search was conducted in his room revealed one LG mobile phone, black leather jacket, and a pink power bank were retrieved from his room.
