Trader jailed for stealing mobile phone at Winneba Hospital

Winneba (C/R) Sept. 10, GNA- The Effutu Magistrate Court has sentenced a 32-year old trader, to two-years imprisonment in hard labour, for stealing a mobile phone valued at 150 Ghana cedis belonging to a patient at the Winneba Government Hospital. David Ampofo pleaded guilty to the offence.

Winneba (C/R) Sept. 10, GNA- The Effutu Magistrate Court has sentenced a 32-year old trader, to two-years imprisonment in hard labour, for stealing a mobile phone valued at 150 Ghana cedis belonging to a patient at the Winneba Government Hospital. David Ampofo pleaded guilty to the offence. Narrating the facts of the case to the court presided over by Mr. Ali Baba Abature, Police Chief Inspector Paul Adamah said, at about 0600 hours on August 24, 2008; the accused accompanied a friend to the Hospital to visit the female ward where he stole the phone after he had joined a prayer session for the patient. When the accused person left the ward, the patient detected the theft and drew the attention of the nurses on duty who informed the security personnel at the hospital. The security officers managed to arrest Ampofo who was in possession of the phone.
