Trader jailed for unlawful entry

The Akim Swedru Circuit Court in the Birim South District, on Friday, sentenced a trader to three years’ jail term in hard labour for attempting to steal.

The 21-year-old trader, Alhasan Ibrahim, pleaded guilty to causing unlawful damage, unlawful entry and attempted stealing.

The prosecution told the court, presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Brew, that in April, last year Mr. Richard Acquah, a businessman from Akim Oda attended a church service when the convict took advantage of his absence and at about 1100 hours, broke into the businessman’s room.

While entering the room, a witness in the case spotted the convict and so he mobilized people around to search for him.

He was later found on the ceiling of the room.

The prosecution said Alhasan was caught and he was handed over to the Police, who escorted him back to the room.

They found out that his slippers together with a multi television decoder and other appliances were packed at a corner in Mr. Acquah’s room.

The judge imposed the sentence on him, based upon his plea.
