Traders and drivers at Tema Station undergoes training on AIDS

Accra, Aug. 19, GNA - The Mobile Youth Resource Centre, a Human Resource Development Organisation, on Friday organised an HIV/AIDS training and counselling programme for drivers and traders at the Tema lorry Station in Accra.

Mr John K. Agbosage, Executive Director of the organisation exposed the participants to the proper use of condoms to prevent infection and how to live with People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWAS). The demonstration on the techniques of wearing both male and female condoms attracted a lot of laughter from the participants and onlookers who followed it up with questions on the management of HIV/AIDS. Mr Agbosage advised the PLWAS against self- medication, which he said could be injurious to their health.

He asked them to patronise only the antiretroviral drugs, which had been subsidised by the Government.

Mr Agbosage called on the participants to treat the PLWAS with love since they were part of society. Mr Stephen Adjei a trader at the station, expressed satisfaction about the workshop, which he said had been informative and useful. The Resource Centre trains the youth to acquire employable skills to reduce poverty among them.

It strives to effect positive change by inculcating in the youth moral principles through faith-based initiatives and counselling and enhance environment safety and factors that could minimise road accidents.
