Agogo (Ash), Feb. 24, GNA - The Agogo Traditional Council has vowed to eject Fulani herdsmen from the Asante-Akim North portion of the Afram Plains. Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong, the Omanhene, said they had become complete nuisance and would have to relocate to end the misery and atrocities visited on the people.

The herdsmen had over the years been accused of rape, murder, destruction of farms, water bodies and virtual imposition of terror in the area.

This has led to growing anger and resentment among the people. Nana Akuoko Sarpong told an agitated crowd that gathered at his Agogo Palace to demand immediate eviction of the herdsmen that the Council had decided that the impunity must end.

He said the conditions upon which they were allowed to enter and settl= e at that part of the Plains had all been breached. They were supposed to fence their ranch and dig wells to serve as source of drinking water for the animals but these they had ignored. The Omanhene appealed for restraint and calm as the Council took appropriate steps to eject them. He said he personally shared the pain the people were living with and could no longer permit that to continue.
