Traditional Rulers Urged To Undertake Development Projects

Dordoekofe (Volta Region), 8 Oct., Traditional rulers have been urged to lead their people to undertake self-help projects to help raise the living standards in their areas. The advice was given by Togbe Vigbedor Agah V, divisional chief of Kudzragbe in the Agave traditional area during the installation of five sub-chiefs and a linguist at Dordoekofe in the South Tongu district of the Volta region. The sub-chiefs are; Tator Dutor Havitse, as Ngogbeyiyi Fia (development chief), Togbe Kpalam I, an elder of the divisional chief, Togbe Boduah II, Dufia of Dzetorkwe, Togbe Dordoe Kporti I, Chief of the Dordoekofe and Togbe Dunyo Anani, as chief linguist of Dordoekofe. Togbe Agah, who is also the Dusifiaga of the traditional area, said the youth of every town are bond to get involved in communal activities when they are convinced that their chief is committed to the development of the area. He asked the new chiefs to accept the challenge to work hard saying they should always promote peace and unity among their people. Mr. Hodson Ablordeppey, presiding member of the South Tongu district assembly who was the guest of honour, announced that the assembly voted 520 million cedis for development projects in the area this year. He advised the people to offer communal labour on the projects in order to reduce cost. Mr. Simon Agah, the assembly's development committee chairman, who presided, appealed to the people to honour their tax obligations to enable the assembly provide them with more social amenities. Togbe Havitse, on behalf of the new chiefs pledged that they will co-operate with the district assembly to bring development to the area.
