The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC), has expressed their discontentment about the chaos in the 2019/2020 Computerized School Selection Placement System (CSSPS).
According to the GNECC, some workers at the Computerized School Selection Placement System Secretariat were transferred; and this has made the Secretariat lose their vital knowledge and expertise who have been sustaining the system for years.
“The transfer of some key staff at the Secretariat of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) in 2017 was not in the interest of education development. These staff had acquired invaluable competencies from the many years of work. They could have been maintained,” the statement read.
The GNECC also described the phenomenon of parents exerting themselves to secure good admissions for their wards as ‘embarrassing’, as they have also contributed to the free SHS policy through the payment of taxes.
“Thousands of parents and students have spent days at the Independent Square just to secure school placements. This is inhuman and an embarrassment to the country, bearing in mind the billions of cedis that the taxpayer is paying every year to fund the free SHS policy,” the statement read.
The coalition in a six-point statement touched on the occurrence at the Black Star Square and some key factors, they believed contributed to the chaos in the placement system.
