The World CIO 200 Summit brought together Chief Information Officers (CIOs) in Accra. The significant event saw top tech leaders and industry experts discuss digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), and collaborative innovation.

The event, organized by GEC Media Group, aimed to drive technological advancement in Ghana and beyond.

The theme for the summit was the power of a unified vision, AI as a catalyst for change, and building a strong tech ecosystem.

Influential figures such as Andrew Fening Okai, CEO of Precept Human Capital & Corporate Advisory Limited, and Imran Abdulla, GM for Middle East and Africa at Orbus Software, delivered keynote addresses, offering valuable insights into the future of technology.

Kojo Dugan, a digital finance professional, spoke about the growing significance of generative AI. He emphasized the need to embrace AI with ethics in mind, stating, “The human brain has done a lot of things, and with this same brainpower, we’ve been able to build automobiles. You can imagine what we can do now. There is no running from it.”

Sam Amanor, CEO of BlueSpace Financial Cloud, highlighted AI's importance, saying, “AI is here to stay, and we must be prepared for it in any way. Its importance supersedes its perceived danger. AI is useful to banks for credit control and fraud mitigation, and it can also be used in agriculture to fight pesticides and in customer services across many organizations.”

Kwaku Asare Ofosuhene, Founder of Strategic Plus Solutions and part of the organizers, noted that AI is an intelligent system that enhances productivity rather than replacing jobs.

He expressed his satisfaction with the summit's attendance and hoped that some of the topics discussed would make it to the final roadshow in September.

“We have been to London, UAE, Pakistan, and others, and this has exceeded our expectations. We have over a hundred CIOs that have attended this program. It tells you how people are seeing the need to spark the use of technology in what they do.”
