Tema, March 29, GNA - Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minister of Transport, on Tuesday said government would soon take a decision on the Report of the Committee of Enquiry into the operations of the Tema Shipyard and Drydock Company (PSC).

Alhaji Dauda, who disclosed this after management of the company had briefed him on its operations during a visit, said looking at the operations of PSC after its divestiture in 1996, one expected the company to have changed most of its equipment into modern ones. He said the company whose workforce was around 500 before it was divested 15 years ago, was expected to have increased the number by now but that had not been the case.

When Alhaji Dauda met the workers of PSC, they complained about poor conditions of service and appealed to the Minister to ensure improved service conditions for the workers. They also complained about the lack of training, and said something ought to be done about it by the sector ministry. At the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, the Minister was briefed on the operations of the Authority by its Director-General, Mr Nestor Percy Galley, who assured him that the company was developing a new deep- sea and an industrial enclave, to cater for the country's infant Oil and Gas Industry. Alhaji Dauda's tour of the Port with its Management took him to the Meridian Port Services and the Marine Block.
