The Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigations Department, DSP Juliana Obeng says tremendous progress has been made in the investigation of the murder of an investigative journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale.

Speaking at a one year anniversary commemorating the murder of Ahmed Suale, DSP Obeng said the Ghana Police Service over the last 12-months has not relented in its efforts in bringing the perpetrators of the murder to book.

“A lot of information has been gathered and I say at this moment on behalf of the Ghana Police Service that tremendous progress has been made on the case.’

Whilst refusing to give details on the level of progress made, DSP Obeng assured that vigorous investigations are still ongoing and the police service remains bent on serving justice on the matter.

She urged stakeholders including family, the media and the general public to volunteer ‘timely’ and ‘accurate’ information that will prove vital to the investigations.

However, Mr. Alhassan Unus, who spoke on behalf of the family expressed disappointment in the state and the police service saying the family has been neglected amidst the level of hopelessness it has in seeing the perpetrators brought to book.

“Since the incident happened the family is yet to see a glimmer of hope if any in the efforts of the state to unmask the identity of the wicked murderers. The family is left with their fate more painfully without any consultations of a sort neither from any agencies from the state nor any courtesies from the government.

It is regrettable to know that we are living in times when the life of the ordinary citizen subservient to the superior life of politicians and the security officials of the state. Is the life of an ordinary citizen of any priority to the state and government at all?

We remember how the alleged killers of the serving police officers at a checkpoint in Budumburam Camp near Kasoa at the Central Region were……… and arrested within three days. We can only evoke the almighty powers of Allah to purge his anger to expose the murderers.”

Ahmed Hussein Suale, a core member of Tiger Eye Private Investigative firm lead by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, was shot by gunmen on a motorbike whilst driving to his family house at Madina.

A year after the assassination of the Ahmed Suale, persons behind the murder are yet to be identified and brought to justice.
