Trial of Ekow Micah to begin on August 24

Trial of Ekow Micah, the musician accused of possessing quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp would begin at an Accra Circuit Court on August 24.

When the case was called on Thursday Assistant Commissioner of Police Moses Atibillah told the court that the prosecution is ready for the trial to begin and would be calling three witnesses to make their case.

The court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh therefore fixed August 24, August 26 and August 27 for hearing.

Micah has, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of narcotic drugs without lawful authority.

Micah is said to have told the Police that he smokes the dried leaves in order to stimulate him in his music career has therefore been remanded into lawful custody.

Narrating the facts of the case on August b7, ACP Atibillah said Micah is a resident of Ogbojo, near Kokrobite in Accra.

He said on August 4, Micah was arrested by the Airport Police over an alleged extortion case currently under investigations.

ACP Atibillah said the following day, at about 1130 hours, the Police and the accused person visited his house to conduct a search and in the process, a quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found concealed in Micah s “back pack”.

Prosecution said the exhibit is being forwarded to the Police Forensic Crime laboratory for examination.
