Tribute to Memory of Mr. Livingston Kofi Brightwell

“If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Romans 14:8

It is with a heavy heart that we the members of NDC – Virginia eulogize our fallen comrade, brother and friend, Mr. Livingston Kofi Brightwell. It was with a heavy heart and great sadness that we received the news of the sudden death of our dear brother Brightwell.

Yes, when we die, it’s certainly not the end of life; rather it’s a temporal end of life on earth and a transition to the next world; but the sad and untimely death of our compatriot and a cornerstone of NDC – Virginia, Mr. Livingston Kofi Brightwell, is very painful to fathom but who are we to question the wisdom of the Almighty God. The Lord gives and the Lord has taken!

Mr. Brightwell had been one of the greatest financiers of NDC 2008 Presidential Electioneering Campaign from the United States of America (USA). Out of his generosity and the LOVE of our Party and Nation, he donated TRUCKS to beef up the 2008 presidential campaign fleet besides many other generous cash donations in various sums as and when the campaign team solicited. In fact, Mr. Brightwell sacrificed a career and probably loved ones to lend support to the then 2008 NDC Presidential Candidate Prof. Atta – Mills’ Campaign in 2007/2008. He was very instrumental in ensuring all news teams that provided coverage for the campaign were taken care off, including driving the newsmen personally to these events in one of the vans he donated to the campaign and in most cases paying their per diem. Even though after the NDC won the 2008 election, the party totally forgot about him, neglected him and his selfless dedication, he neither despised the party and her leadership nor renege on his devotion to the Nation. He rather relocated to Ghana in 2009 and continued to work in his own little way to whip up enthusiasm for the party and also to contribute in making Ghana a better place. We are very sad about the death of our brother but we take consolation in what the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:1 “A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth”; and Proverbs 22:1, “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold”.

Our dear comrade’s death is a great blow and loss to NDC – Virginia and to the larger NDC family. Mr. Livingston Kofi Brightwell was a good example of those who worked timeless days and nights for the success of NDC in the 2008 general election and got absolutely zero physical reward for it. We have no doubt in our minds that our brother will be glad to be counted in eternity as “one who’s Love for his Country led him to give up everything he had for his beloved NDC Party and Country, Ghana”.

Our dear brother, Kofi Brightwell: “You had fought a good fight, you had finished the race, you had kept the faith. Now there is in store for you the crown of righteousness, which The Lord the righteous Judge, will award to you on that day.”

FARE THEE WELL!

Brightwell, you are dearly missed. We miss you, Na hede nyui!! Mawu nadawo de fafa pe!!! May You Rest in Perfect Peace with the Lord, till we meet again.

AMEN.
