Troops of Ghana Battalion 65 (GHANBATT 65) defied the cold winter weather and

celebrated Christmas with coral music and Religious Church Service. Prior to the

Christmas day, the Consular General of Ghana to Lebanon, HE Mr Michel Haddad, had

paid the troops an official visit to wish them Merry Christmas and a better year

to come. During the visit, HE Mr Michel Haddad took the opportunity to commission

a refurbished Internet Caf? at the Battalion Headquarters in Southern Lebanon. He

reminded the troops of UNIFIL GHANBATT 65 of the current Political Development in

Lebanon and commended them for exhibiting professionalism in the face of danger.

Lt Col EW Kotia, the Commanding Officer of the Ghana Battalion in Lebanon, wished

troops and their families back home Merry Christmas. Delivering his Christmas

message to the Officers and Men at the Christmas Church Service, Lt Col Kotia

asked all personnel to pray for mother Ghana, their families back home and

especially his Excellency, President JA Kufour, for peace and a prosperous Ghana.

He commended the Ghanaian troops for raising the flag of Ghana very high in such

an international arena. He however reminded the troops of the fluid nature of the

security situation and advised them to remain vigilant and alert at all times.

The occasion was also used by the Commanding Officer to present gift to some

selected schools located within the Area of Operational Responsibility of the
