Truck pusher remanded in prison custody for defiling two minors

Half Assini (W/R) Jan. 9, GNA-The Half Assini District Magistrate’s court on Friday remanded a truck-pusher at the Jewi Wharf border near Half Assini in one month’s prison custody for defiling two sisters who are minors.

The plea of Kofi Kwaw from Bamiankor in the Nzema East District was not taken and the court ordered him to re-appear on February 6, 2012.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Moses Kofie told the court presided over by Mr Hans Kofi Kpogo that on December 21, 2011, the two sisters aged 11 and 14 whose names were being withheld for security reasons, misconducted themselves towards their mother, Madam Rebecca Eshun at Jewi Wharf.

The prosecution said the two sisters vacated home to escape punishment and went to the house of Kwaw who was their former co-tenant.

They stayed there until December 25, 2011 when their uncle saw them and brought them back to Madam Eshun who was ill during the period.

Chief Inspector Kofie said the children told their mother that while with Kwaw he sexually assaulted them.

The prosecution said while the woman was waiting to recover from her illness before taking action, Kwaw again on December 31, last year met the girls selling their mother’s provisions and invited them to come for Christmas gifts.

Chief Inspector Kofie said when the children innocently went to the accused person, he locked them up in his room, pulled a cutlass and threatened to kill them if they refused him sex.

He said after having sex with the two girls, he refused to open the door until their shouting attracted a 'Good Samaritan' who gave a knock on the door before Kwaw freed them.

Chief Inspector Kofie said the children went home and reported the matter to their mother who also informed the Naval personnel at the Wharf who arrested him and handed him over to the police at Half Assini.
