After two officers of the Motor Traffic and Transport Division (MTTD) of Ghana Police Service were gruesomely murdered at Kasoa, another officer has met his untimely death at Kintampo in the Bono East Region, ABC News can report.
The sad incident happened on Friday morning at a checkpoint known as Nante Zongo which is along the Kintampo-Jema highway in the Bono East Region.
The deceased officer, Inspector Foster Ampomah was run over by a DAF Truck driver with registration number GE 7562-14 after he ignored the officer’s signal to come to a halt for the necessary inspection.
ACP Joseph Antwi Gyau, Divisional Police Commander has confirmed the incident revealing that the officer was immediately rushed to the hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors at Kintampo Hospital. He confirmed that the body has been deposited at the morgue as the investigation is ongoing.
“He was dead when he was rushed to the hospital. We are yet to inform the police hierarchy and the family of our deceased officer”, ACP Antwi Gyau told reporters.
The driver of the DAF Truck Awudu Sumaila, 30 with his mate have been arrested and are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
