Nene Dusey II, Chief of Tsopoli in the Ningo-Prampram District in the Greater Accra Region has appealed to the Ghana Highway Authority to provide more speed ramps on their end of the Tema-Aflao highway.
Nene Dusey told the Ghana News Agency that due to lack of adequate speed ramps, residents especially children get knocked down by speeding vehicles.
He disclosed that about 12 children were knocked down on the highway in 2017 when they were returning home from school and had to cross the road.
According to him, it was unfortunate that speed ramps had been erected at some portions of the road away from the town while neglecting the places that had settlements.
The Chief also appealed to the Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NIPDA) to construct the road linking the highway to the Ningo and Prampram communities.
He noted that houses located along the corridors of the road, had been filled with dust as residents had to endure associated air pollution.
Several tipper trucks speed on the untarred bumpy road as they moved from Ningo or Prampram to nearby sand winning areas, a situation that poses several health hazards to residents.
Touching on other community challenges, Nene Dusey indicated that due to lack ofwater, the residents whose main occupation was farming, idle about in the absence of rainfall as they had no means of watering their crops.
He appealed to government to consider the town in the “One village, One dam” policy as that would enable them to farm all year round and provide jobs for the youth.
