One hundred and twenty-eight tuberculosis treatment centres are being established throughout the Brong-Ahafo Region under the National Tuberculosis Control Programme to bring effective treatment of the disease to the doorsteps of patients.
To ensure the success of the programme, 120 health workers have been trained in the diagnosis treatment and control of the disease while a further 64 would be trained to man the centres being established.
Dr F. A Bonsu, senior medical officer in charge of public health, announced this at a day's review and procedure appraisal meeting of disease control officers and district tuberculosis co-ordinators at Sunyani at the week-end.
He said the training of health workers including doctor and nurses was being funded by the Danish International Development Agency.
