Accra, July 23, GNA - Turkey has re-opened her embassy in Accra Mr Kenan Tepedelen, the Turkish Ambassador, said on Friday.
He said the embassy was one of the first to be established in 1981 but had to close down due to some circumstances.
Mr Tepedelen said this during a courtesy call on Nii Armah Ashietey, Greater Accra Regional Minister, in Accra.
He was hopeful that with re-opening of the embassy, more Turkish entrepreneurs would invest in the country to assist in economic development.
Mr Tepedelen said Ghana had benefited from over 175 million dollars in trade relations with Turkey, adding "this would increase two-fold after full scale operations in future."
He said a Turkish government delegation including businessmen and journalists would visit Ghana on July 29 to explore areas of investment.
Mr Tepedelen said there was a regular Turkish flight four times a week and the embassy would begin issuing Turkish visas to travelers in October next year.
He said Ghana and Turkey had enjoyed good diplomatic relations and expressed the hope that in future both governments would consider a twin city relationship to enhance political, economic and cultural development.
Nii Ashietey expressed gratitude to Mr Tepedelen for the investments in the country especially agriculture.
