Turkish leader to visit Ghana

The Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyib Erdogan will pay a state visit to Ghana next month in furtherance of the warming bilateral relations between the two countries. Mr. Erbogan will be accompanied by a large Turkish investment and business delegation to explore opportunities. The Foreign Minister, Akwasi Osei Adjei announced this on his return from Istanbul where he represented the president at the first ever Turko-Africa summit on cooperation.

Africa was fully represented by Heads of State and delegation from the various sub-regional grouping on the continent. Turkey which last year traded with the continent to the tune of four billion dollars seeks to double this figure. She used the opportunities of the summit to showcase the economic, industrial and commercial might of the country. Mr. Akwasi Osei Adjei said Ghana tabled a position at the summit calling for an action to see to the implementation of all instruments agreed upon in Istanbul.

He explained that the continent is saddled with so many agreements and arrangement awaiting implementation and more cannot be added. The Foreign Minister said Turkey has expressed interest to invest in such areas as Energy, Education, Culture, Road, Tourism and Agriculture. On bilateral issues Turkey gave a firm promise to open an embassy in Accra
