Twenedurase residents receive support from natives abroad

The great grandchildren of the late queen mother of Twenedurase Ohemaah Nana Akosua Kwakyewaa, who are also the children of Maame Yaa Kumah, namely Evangelist Hayford Obeng living in Holland, Kwadwo Owusu and Akua Badu both living in America as well as Darko Kumah living in London, their friends, and love once in overseas have donated food items and cash to all the elderly in Twenedurase.

The donation, executed on Sunday, May 31 was to support the aged following the challenges brought upon many by coronavirus.

A representative of the donors, Osarfo Anthony told recipients that the gesture is a “token of our love and a little we can do to help. We pray God will keep you all in good health and bless you!”

The items included tubers of yam, mackerel and soap. With the gesture amounting to GHC30,000, persons of 60 years and above received GHC50 each in addition to the food items given them.

“On behalf of the chief and members of the community, I thank you for this gesture. We are indeed grateful for having us in mind,” said Nana Kwame kumnipa IV, chief of Twenedurase.

“We’re happy you’ve extended a helping hand. Like the adage goes, ‘one tree cannot make a forest’. So we are glad you have come together for this donation,” added Daniel Ofosu Darfour, the Assembly Member of Twenedurase Electoral Area.

While expressing gratitude for the gesture, they made a plea to the donors, government and other organisations to come to their aid and help with the construction of classroom blocks for the Junior High School students. They also pleaded for drinking water, stressing that they have been compelled to drink unclean water for water for years.
