Twenty-five NPP activists resign

Tema, April 29, GNA - Mr Abudulai Baba Gomda, who claims to be an Activist of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Thursday, announced his resignation from the Party saying "NPP has not kept faith to the issue of Dagbon."

He said he was not joining any party.

In a release issued to the Ghana News Agency at Tema, Mr Gomda, who described himself as an Andani, said he was leaving the NPP together with 24 others "because one should not cut ones own tongue and eat".

He said the NPP Administration had failed to apprehend those responsible for the gruesome murder of Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II, Paramount Chief of Dagbon.

Mr Gomda said while with the NPP, he served as a Security Coordinator of Sheikh I. C. Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister and Mr Kwao Tsuro, an NPP Ward Chairman, adding that he and the others were seriously disappointed in the Government.

He said it was unsatisfactory to Andanis that the former Northern Regional Minister, Prince Imoro Andani, the former Minister of the Interior, Alhaji Malik Alhassan Yakubu and the former Security Coordinator, Lieutenant General Joshua Hamidu, who were in sensitive positions at the time had been set free.

He said the inability by the Government to find out the murderers of the Overlord was inexplicable.

Those who defected along with Mr Gomda were Alhassan Baba, Issifu Dodjia, Alhassan Kiosk, Iddrisu Karimu, Afa Karimu, Sakora Salifu, Mohammed Muntala and Emmanuel Teye Tulasi.

Others were Abdulai Adam, Issahaku Butcher, Salifu Saani, Gafaru Baba, Mohammed Saani, Abudulai Abdululai, Muniru Mohammed, Victor Oclu and Issah Adam.

The rest are Abdulai Musah, Fuseni Mahama, Madam Azara Baba, Afa Alidu, Mallam Solakatu, Issahaku Osman and Hamza Baba.
