Twifo Bepobeng told to refrain from election violence

Twifo-Bepobeng, Oct. 24, GNA - The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira, Mr Yaw Agyeibi-Kessie on Thursday said, urged the people in the area to refrain from acts that would derail the focus of the assembly's developmental programme. He said since it's an election year, the people must guard against been lured into political riots to enable the assembly to continue with its numerous development projects. Mr Agyeibi-Kessie gave the advice in a speech read for him at a day's durbar, organised by the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) with support from the Assembly and unit committee members of Twifo Bepobeng.\

Mr Agyeibi-Kessie gave the advice in a speech read for him at a day's durbar, organised by the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) with support from the Assembly and unit committee members of Twifo Bepobeng.\ It was on the topic "a peaceful election 2008", aimed at educating the people of the town on the electoral processes to maintain peace during the December polls. He commended the NCCE for organizing the programme to enlighten the people on the rules governing the election and urged them to eschew any negative tendency that could result in chaos during the elections. Mr Peter Donkor, an official of the NCCE warned minors not to attempt voting because it was an offence punishable by law. The queen of Bepobeng, Nana Bregyaa II warned that any one who would engage in any electoral malpractices would be dealt with and reiterated calls on all to stay away from violence to ensure an incident free and peaceful election. 24 Oct. 08
