Two GIFEC staff laid to rest

Accra, Sept. 3, GNA – Two members of staff of Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication(GIFEC) who died in a road crash in line of national duty were given State burial at the Osu Cemetery in Accra on Friday.

They are Mr Andrews Mac Nana Kofi Ampiah, 28, Information Technology Technician, and Mr John Armah Tetteh, 32, a driver.


They died on August 19, on their way to Yendi from Tamale to extend Information Communication Technology and internet services to Ghana Prisons Service premises at Yendi.


GIFEC is an agency under the Ministry of Communications tasked to decentralise broadband connectivity to Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs) Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the country to ensure efficiency in government business.

At the grave side were the bereaved families, staff of GIFEC, GPS, and friends and sympathizers.


Mr Ampiah, who left behind a wife and a daughter, joined GIFEC in April 2011, while Mr Tetteh left behind a wife and three children.


Mr Kofi Attor, Chief Executive Officer of GIFEC, eulogized them for their commitment and dedication to duty, saying “Ghana has lost a great expert and a dutiful driver”.
