Two Nigerians held for Narcotics

Two Nigerians, a businesswoman and a student, were yesterday arraigned before the Accra Regional Tribunal charged with exporting heroine. Gladys Osula Enoma, the 42-year old businesswoman, faced two counts of conspiracy and exporting heroine, while Akinde Bayo Bidemi, 23, the student, was charged with conspiracy. They both pleaded not guilty and the three-member tribunal chaired by Mr. Justice Benjamin Tetteh remanded them in prison custody for one week. Mr. Johanes Vegba, Assistant State Attorney prosecuting told the tribunal that on January seven this year, Enoma was arrested with 102 capsules of some substance suspected to be heroine while she was going through immigration formalities at the Kotoka International Airport on her way to Lagos.

A Ghana Standard Board examination confirmed that they it was heroine. Upon interrogation, Enoma mentioned Bidemi as the one who gave her the drugs and he was later picked up.
