Nkoranza (B/A), Aug. 14, - The Nkoranza District Education Directorate has honoured two pupils of the Nkoranza St. Theresa's Catholic Primary School for winning the Brong Ahafo regional academic competition held at Sunyani last year. Master Antwi Boateng of primary five and Master Owusu Nyamekye of primary six who topped their classes received 30,000 cedis each and a cetificate. Mr. S.E.K. Segbefia, the district director of education, commended the pupils for their great achievement, saying they had raised high the image of the district. He urged parents to educate the girl-child to enhance the development of women, adding every citizen should benefit from the free, compulsory and universal basic education programme (F-CUBE). Mr Segbefia urged teachers in the district to work harder to enhance academic work in schools for more pupils to win academic laurels. He praised teachers of the St. Theresa's Catholic Primary school and other teachers for refraining from participating in a recent strike called by the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT). The Ministry of Education has selected St. Theresa's Catholic Primary School as a model elementary institution under the World Health Organisation's (WHO) sponsored school health educational programme.
