Mon, 9 Jun 1997 Source: --

Bolgatanga, - Mr Thomas Amare, a tutor at Bolgatanga technical institute and Mr Moses Apasyine of the department of community development, are contesting for the Tanzui-Zorbisi electoral area seat in the Bolgatanga district assembly. The seat became vacant following the death of the incumbent, Mr Philbert Agunga-Dongo, a former tutor of the technical institute. Speaking on a platform mounted for them to introduce themselves to the electorate, Mr Amare said he intends to continue the work of the former assemblyman. He said he would organise welfare, development and watch-dog committees and encourage the people to send their children to school. He would also advise adults to take advantage of the functional literacy classes. Mr Apasyine pledged to work to solve the water and sanitation problems of the people and called on the electorate to make the right choice.
