Two people have been arrested by the police for allegedly stealing fish from the farm of Dr Kwadwo Afari Gyan, the Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) at Fankyiniko near Nsawam in the Eastern Region.

The suspects, Isaac Kofi Kumah, 23, an employee at the farm, and Eric Sackey, 25, a mason, were said to have stolen 28 pieces of Tilapia ponds in the farm to prepare fufu and light soup.

The Nsawam District Police Commander, Superintendent Akwesi Kankam-Boadu told the Ghanaian Times on Saturday that there had been series of theft cases at the farm for some time now.

He said due to the situation officials of the farm laid ambush to apprehend the culprits.

Supt. Kanakam-Boadu on February 5, at about 10 30 p.m., the suspects were caught red handed stealing from the pond and were arrested and handed over to the police.

He said a search in their house revealed 28 pieces of the fish that had been smoked and some used to prepare fufu and light soup.
