Two persons have been arrested by the police in Tamale in connection with the missing Toyota Hilux belonging to the Savannah Regional Coordinating Council.
They are Alhaji Suleimana Illiasu, the complainant and the person in whose custody the vehicle was placed and Opoku Kwadjo Evans the driver who was made to deliver the vehicle to Alhaji Illiasu.
They were arrested on Tuesday, July 16, 2019.
Meanwhile, police investigations are ongoing to track and retrieve the vehicle.
The new vehicle which was handed over by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo recently to the newly created Savannah Region was allegedly stolen by armed robbers.
The police consequently initiated investigations to find the missing 4×4 pick-up vehicle belonging to the Savannah Regional Coordinating Council (SRCC).
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr. Mohammed Yusif Tanko, in charge of police Public Relations for the Northern Region, the vehicle was parked in the residence of one Alhaji Illiasu in Tamale.
Alhaji Illiasu is a friend to the Savannah Regional Minister, Mr. Salifu Adam Braimah and so the Minister went to park the vehicle in his house whilst he [Minister] travelled out of town for a meeting.
