Two chiefs swear oath of allegiance to Asantehene

Kumasi (Ashanti Region) 24 Nov '98 Two chiefs on Monday swore the oath of allegiance to Otumfuo Opoku Ware the Second, the Asantehene, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

They are Nana Yaw Ansah Bediako, chief of Kobeng, near Nkawie, in the Atwima district, and Nana Kwaku Antwiaba the Second, Ano-Abrafuohene of the Manhyia Palace.

Nana Bediako, 56, and a farmer, succeeded his uncle, Nana Kwame Nsiah who reigned for 54 years and died in June, this year.

Nana Antwiaba, known in private life as Kwaku Addae, 32, is a trader and succeeded Nana Kofi Nsiah the Second, who died in April, this year.

Swearing the oath of allegiance to the Asantehene, both chiefs said they would continue with the good work of their predecessors.

Nana Bediako pledged to lead his people in the development of the town and called for support and co-operation.
