Koforidua, April 26, GNA - Two foreign companies, Messrs BATEMAN of South Africa and SADE of France have submitted proposals to the Ministry of Works and Housing for a permanent solution to the Koforidua perennial water problem.

Consequently a committee of 10 has been formed to look at the proposals and to submit a recommendation to the Ministry of Works and Housing by Friday to select one of the companies to undertake the Koforidua water project.

Mr I.K. Adjei-Mensah, Minister of Works and Housing, said this when he addressed workers of the Ghana Water Company at Koforidua on Tuesday. Earlier the Minister visited the Densuagya Water intake point and the Koforidua water treatment plant where he was briefed on work going on in the area.

He said under the new project, the source of water supply to the Koforidua Municipality would be from the Volta Lake and all the communities along the route from the intake point to Koforidua would benefit from pipe borne water supply.

The Managing Director of GWC, Mr Charles Adjei called on the workers of the company to support any company that would win the bidding for the project.
