Akim Oda (E/R), Aug 2, GNA - The Akim Oda Magistrate's Court, pres= ided over by Mr Albert Owusu Annor, on Monday imposed a total fine of GH¢400.0= 0 on Isaac Kofi Yeboah, an artisan and Daniel Ayisu, a welder for harming Master Kenneth Ampofo, a store keeper. Yeboah and Ayisu pleaded guilty to causing harm. They would be imprisoned for 12 months each in hard labour when they fail to pay the fine. The Court also ordered them to pay GH¢ 300.00 to compensate Master Ampofo. Police Inspector Kwadwo Ahenkorah explained to the Ghana News Agency that Yeboah and Ayisu who lived at Akim Abenase near Akim Oda would pay a fine of GH¢200.00 each. He said Master Ampofo, the complainant, is a student of a driving schoo= l and also a part-time store-keeper at Akim Oda.

He said sometime in November, 2010, Master Ampofo was keeping his uncle's shop when Yeboah emerged and claimed that he sold a speaker in th= e shop to Mr Kofi Kwakye (the Uncle) at the cost of GH¢15.00 but wanted to retrieve it because payment had not been effected. Chief Inspector Ahinkorah said when Master Ampofo refused to allow the speaker to be taken away, Yeboah became offended and the situation degenerated into a scuffle.

Yeboah pounced on Master Ampofo and gave him some slaps, while Ayisu also hit his forehead with an iron-bar. He stated that the victim was rushed to the Akim Oda Government Hospital but Yeboah and Ayisu went into hiding until their arrest on June 2= 5 this year.
