Two dead in fatal accident at Akyem Asafo

Two persons have died in a gory accident at Atwemamena, a community near Akyem Asafo along the Accra-Kumasi highway in the Eastern region.

The accident occurred around 11:40 am on Friday.

The gory accident involves a Kia truck and a Metro Mass Transit bus.

According to an eyewitness Kofi Ansah, the Kia truck from Kumasi heading to Accra collided with the Metro Mass bus from Accra, killing two out of the three persons onboard the Kia Truck instantly.

He added that the deceased persons are still trapped in the mangled Kia truck. He said all efforts by a local rescue team to retrieve the bodies have proved futile.

He, however, said the other passenger who is in critical condition has been rescued and rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile, the Metro Mass bus run into a ditch subsequently leading to the passengers onboard suffering minor injuries.

Ansah reported that the deceased were mourners transporting food and drinks to a funeral.
