Two die in two separate accidents

Agona Swedru, Sept 17, GNA- Two people died soon on admission at the Swedru Government Hospital and five others received various degrees of injuries in two separate accidents, which occurred at Agona Kwamang and Agona Swedru on Friday.
The dead were Okyere Damson 53, Director of Rev. Father John Memorial Driving School and Ekuah Gyemah both from Agona Swedru. Charles Dankwa, who had compound fracture on his left leg had been referred to Koforidua hospital for further treatment. Two of the injured persons who are yet to be identified, were rushed to the nearby Winneba government hospital for treatment because the male wards at the Agona Swedru Government Hospital were undergoing rehabilitation since the past six month.
Samuel Arthur and Kobina Ebo were later treated and discharged. According to the police the first accident occurred at Kwamang when an Urvan bus, in an attempt to overtake another vehicle collided with an on-coming vehicle.
In the other accident, Ekua Gyemah, aged about 22, died later on admission at the hospital following injuries she received when a taxi on which she was travelling to Agona Asafo crash with an Urvan bus. According to a family spokesman, Gyemah was going to present a gift to her pastor who was on transfer.
Meanwhile a large number of sympathizers and mourners besieged the hospital to ascertain the dead of the late Okyere Damson who was also a Purchasing Clerk (PC) of Swedru District Produce Buying Company (PBC).
Meanwhile, the two bodies have been deposited at a private mortuary at Gomoa Ekwamkrom.
Most people in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at the hospital expressed regret about the increasing spate of accidents in the country and appealed to the Police to continue to intensify their checks on the roads to help remedy the situation.
