Accra Nov. 12, GNA- Two persons who allegedly robbed a broadcaster of his car and 250,000 cedis at gunpoint on the Spintex road in Accra on Wednesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court charged with conspiracy and robbery.

Prosper Kweku Ameshinu, a mason, and Peter Doli, a mechanic had earlier been arraigned at the same court on charges of conspiracy and stealing. The court, chaired by Mr Williwise Kyeremeh did not take their pleas on the new charges and remanded them in custody to re-appear on November 26.

Prosecuting Chief Inspector Benedicta Akolgo informed the court that a duplicate docket was being prepared to the Attorney General Department for advice.

She said the complainant Mr. Cox Tamakloe of JOY FM, a private radio station in Accra, on the night of September 21, this year, was driving his Ford Escort from Accra to Community 20 in Tema.

The Prosecution said when the complainant reached a portion on the Spintex road, accused persons and their accomplices, Thomas and Alex, now at large crossed the complainant's car, robbed him of his car and 250,000 cedis and absconded.

She said the complainant reported the matter to the police. Chief Inspector Akolgo, said on September 28, this year the Nima police received information that the complainant's car had been dismantled and parts of the car were being offered for sale at Nii Boye Town.

She said immediately the police went to the place and found the car which had been dismantled in a garage and Ameshinu, caretaker of the house in which the car was found and Doli were arrested. Prosecution said during interrogation, the accused persons mentioned Alex and Thomas as those who brought the car to the house to be dismantled for sale.

She said the complainant later identified Ameshinu as one of the people who robbed him.
