Two jailed for ram theft

New-Tafo Akim, Sept. 26, GNA - Two farmers from Abodobi, near Begoro, have been sentenced to two years' imprisonment each with hard labour by the New Tafo Akim District Magistrate Court, for stealing a ram valued at 800,000 cedis. The accused persons, George Tettey, 35 and Christian Kwesi, 22 pleaded guilty.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector William Kwasi Nkrumah, told the court, presided over by Mr C. D. Nimako that, the accused stole the ram, belonging to Mr Emmanuel Adjemtey at Abodobi on September 14, this year. Inspector Nkrumah said when the complainant detected the theft, he put the local watch-dog committee on the alert. He said three days later, Tettey was interrogated and he admitted stealing the ram in the company of Kwesi and sold it at the Ahomahomasu market at 200,000 cedis.

Inspector Nkrumah said the accused persons were arrested and sent to the Begoro Police station where they were charged with the offence.
