Cape Coast, Jan. 12, GNA - Three persons who allegedly gang raped a 14-year-old girl were on Tuesday put before a circuit court in Cape Coast on charges of defilement.

The plea of Samuel Asifoa, an 18-year-old carpenter, a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy, both students, were not taken. Asifoa was remanded in prison custody while the two students were released to their parents to be brought to court on January 28. The presiding judge Mr. Beresford Acquah said he released the two juveniles in order not to disrupt their schooling and asked their parents to ensure that they were brought to court at the next sitting. Chief Inspector Charles Anku told the court that on December 29 last year, the complainant in the case woke up to do her domestic chores but saw that even though her sister had travelled the door to her room was opened. He said the complainant entered the room she saw Asifoa and the 17-year-old student while the other student kept watch at a distance. When she inquired about their mission the victim alleged that she was lured into the room by the accused persons who had sexual intercourse with her in turns.

The three were arrested but a fourth person, one Nana Prempeh, escaped. 12 Jan 10
