Accra, Aug. 29, GNA - The Madina Grade One Magistrate's Court presided over by Mrs Beatrice Darko has remanded two land guards into Police custody for causing unlawful damage of property. The two, David Adjei Adjetey and Van Sowah were scheduled to reappear on Monday August 29.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector S. Acheampong told the Court that the Madina Police was informed on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 that land guards were demolishing someone's wall at Maijor, part of Madina. When the Madina Police got there the culprits took to their heels. Later the two culprits were found driving in a Pajero vehicle with registration number GR 2038 J, which was moving from where the walls were being demolished and intercepted the vehicle and when it was searched, the Police found pick-axes, heavy harmers and other equipment used in demolishing walls. The culprits were, therefore, arrested. In another development a taxicab with registration number GT 7550 W, which was being driven by one Ebenezer and was seized by two armed robbers at the Madina Redco Flats area, was later abandoned around the Maamobi Polyclinic.

A Good Samaritan, who saw the cab, reported to the Newtown Police, who retrieved it and sent it to the Madina Police for further investigations.
