Kumasi, Jan. 2, GNA - An appeal has gone to the two main political parties in the country, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to co-operate with each other to address the socio-economic challenges facing the nation. Mr J.K. Ennumh, the Executive Director of Grace and Hope Foundation, an NGO, who made the appeal in a New Year message in Kumasi, said the rift existing between the two parties does not augur well for the country's young democracy.
He said Ghana needs absolute peace, stability and the co-operation of all to be able to harness its human and natural resources to address the country's problems. Mr Ennumh said there was therefore for all irrespective of political, religious and ethnic backgrounds to join hands in an effort to make Ghana a prosperous society.
In another New Year message, The Reverend Ellis Owusu-Ansah, Head Pastor of the Light of God Evangelistic Ministry, urged Ghanaians to lead decent lives worthy of emulation.
Delivering the sermon to mark the New Year celelebration at Ntonso in the Kwabre district, the Rev Owusu-Ansah exhorted the congregation to shun evil and cultivate love and forgiveness and enter the New Year with hope.
He said the entire society is engulfed with immorality, jealousy, selfishness, envy, bribery and corruption.
Rev Owusu-Ansah called for sacrifice from all sectors of the society so as to help move the nation forward.
