Two people sustain serious injuries in accident

Juaso (Ash), March 22, GNA- Two employees of the Asante-Akim South District Assembly were rushed to the Konongo Government Hospital unconscious when the assembly's pick-up for revenue mobilisation was involved in an accident with a timber truck at the outskirts of Juaso on Saturday.

The two including the driver of the pick-up whose names were not immediately available, were rushed to the Konongo Government Hospital but were later transferred to the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital due to power failure at Konongo.

The driver of the timber truck and one other person with him on the vehicle fled from the scene of accident, abandoning the truck. An eyewitness told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the assembly's pick-up, which was from Juaso township, collided with the truck, which was driving into the town.

He said the driver of the truck after managing to get his vehicle to a halt, bolted with the other occupant, leaving the driver of the pick-up and his colleagues trapped in the pick-up.

The eyewitness said with the help of other people, they rescued the victims and rushed them to the Konongo government hospital. When contacted, the Juaso police confirmed the incident.
